Nysm1 Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Is there any front LCA I can take off of other Jeep's that will work in my 1990 MJ 4x4 conversion? The ones I have are trashed and just need to find a cheap replacement. I've read that the TJ lower control arms can support up to a 3" lift. Is this true or should I just bite a bullet and pay for new ones?
HOrnbrod Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 WJ lowers are a nice swap for our MJs. Lots of threads in the forum regarding installation.
mikekaz1 Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 I believe the TJ lowers are around an inch shorter then the XJ/MJ control arms. I believe the WJ rears are around 3" longer then XJ/MJ arms though, and commonly used.
Nysm1 Posted May 8, 2016 Author Posted May 8, 2016 Ok cool! Thanks for that guys! I've built a number of XJ's but always just bought them new. I just want to keep this build cheap and easily to replace if necessary. I have about 6 junkyards around a 40 mile radius so this will be easy to find!
HOrnbrod Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Just use WJ front LCAs OP. They are the same length as the stock MJ/XJ arms, and will support up to a 3" lift with zero problems. You'll just have to throw in a shim or two on each side to correct the caster angle.
