AX-15 Swap question

Swapping my current AX-5 with an AX-15 with the 3.4l motor, just had a question about the Dakota bell housing used to mate the AX-15 and the 3.4. My question is could I use the 2.5l Dakota bell housing AX-5 or it has to be a 2.5l Dakota bell housing ax-15? if it does have to be the latter is there any adapters or way around it if I can't find the 2.5l Dakota ax-15 bell housing?

I don't think a Dakota ever used an ax5...I know they used the nv1550 also...

Advance adapters makes an adaptor but it's $$$

And the years for the 2.5 Dakotas only came with ax15s

Just the other week I saw 4 Dakotas with stripped engines and the ax15s with the 2.5 bell housing just sitting there...

Ok thanks! Dang that's lucky. I have been having a b*@$£ of a time finding a Dakota Bell housing. But being over here in Hawaii its pretty limited when it comes to sourcing out parts.

And thanks for the links! May have to resort to bucking up and paying for that adapter if I can't find one. But hot damn that adaptor is pricey! More then what I'm paying for my tranny! Haha

lol yeah...that's why when I did my swap I waited and waited until i found a Dakota with the amc 2.5 engine with the 5 speed in it...

The funny thing is I wasn't even looking for it and I happened to pass by one and noticed it was a Dakota with the 2.5....

It's crazy that it only came through 96-98/99 years
