Is this just dielectric grease or should I be worried?

yes it is the electrical grease that they used. After many years it becomes like tar.

If you want to clean it that stuff out, I highly recommend soaking it in undiluted Super Clean for 2-3 days.  I did that to mine to refresh the connections and it dissolve it all.  I spray it out with water, then hit it with brake cleaner for good measure, then blew it out with compressed air and let it sit for a couple days to make sure it was completely dry.

Thanks, that's a good idea because all of the sudden that $#!& is everywhere. Stuck to my clothes my hands, it's a good thing I have my carpet out otherwise it'd be trashed too.
