88 Beast
I did mine like Rookie. I pulled an 88 and 89 cluster, both have blue back housings. Maybe thats the difference with PRNDL mount posts?
Sir Sam
Those newer gauges look so much better, IMO one of the classyst and easy to use/read layouts ever. The 97+ XJs have the same layout, but the green on black just isn't as classy as the red and black.
HOrnbrod
The full cluster I pulled from an '89 Cherokee had the posts for the indicator. It had a blue casing, not the white casing like that picture. That must be it then. The blue cases were Renix, the whites were HOs. The speedos, fuel gauges, and tachs are different between the two and the only ones I worked with for my 91 were the white cases. If the HO cases had the monting posts for the shift indicator I would have done it the same as you did. :D Any chance you could post a pic? I might be able to adapt the older style case with the newer gauges using the HO printed circuit foil. Thanks - learned something here.
Spokes
Autometer makes single and double pillar gauge pods for our trucks, but not a triple, AFAIK. :D Is there a seam between each gauge housing? its 1 single piece.
