Hi guys I am new to this forum. Here it goes I purchased this 88 comanche 4wd did a vin check it decoded as a 88 2wd 5spd base 4.0L.I don't know where to start checking to make sure things are done right? Far as i can tell rusty 4.5" lift 31/10.50/15 front shaft not connected speedo not connected alignment was way off (had fixed) alignment guy said needs adjustable upper control arms. I think the drive shaft and upper control arms are from its 2wd days. I drove it home about 50 miles no problems. I would really like to know where to start to make sure it has the correct parts.

Sounds like a PO has made all the necessary changes already.  Since it was born a 2wd and is now a 4wd, the things I would suggest you check are:

What trans is now in it?  An 88 4.0 5 spd. would have come with a BA10/5.  Is it still a manual?  Is it an AX15?

What is the tcase?  The most common is an NP231.  Although, a NP242 can be found.  Is it part-time 4wd(231) or full-time 4wd(242).  Look at the tcase shifter.

What front axle was installed?  Most likely a Dana 30.  What are the gears: 3.07, 3.55, 3.73 or 4.10?  There maybe a tag on the diff cover that will say.

What is the rear axle?  It probably came from the factory with a D35 and 3.07 gears.  Although, it could have a D44 (more desirable) but still 3.07 gears.

Picture looks nice.

Welcome to the madness!
