Area51Werks Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Located in MN. I am shopping for an MJ. I found a truck I like. The wiper transmission is not working though. Is this common? What other issues should I look for? Just rid myself of a 5.4 Triton F150 4WD. Never again.
cruiser54 Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Welcome. What's wrong with the wiper transmission? Have you removed it yet?
Area51Werks Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 I was told the linkage from the driver side to the passenger side was broken. Only the driver side is working. Just wondering if this is common and if there are any other common items to look out for. The truck is across the country. I have to hop a plane to go get it. Just want to be smart about other things to look for when inspecting.
cruiser54 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Rmove the assembly. Make sure the bolts are tight at the wiper motor itself. Remove them anyway and LocTite them back in. Those plastic pieces that hold the inner arms on are available in the HELP section of your auto parts store.
Eagle Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 If replacing the plastic bushings doesn't fix it, it's easy to remove the whole assembly (you will do that anyway, to replace the bushings), and the wiper assembly is the same as a Cherokee so a junkyard replacement should be easy to find.
Area51Werks Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Thanks fellas, I ended up just getting a used unit at the salvage yard incase it was something serious. Ended up the plastic bushing on the cross arm failed. I just replaced the entire unit.
