jdwillys
Hello, I have an '89 that I took out of service and it has been in my garage for over a year now. Turns out that I'm doing way more work than I anticipated, but loving every minute of it. So, the bench seat is missing a part, been that way since I purcased from po. Seems to be that there should be a heavy gauge wire from the driver side adjuster lever to the passenger side spring lock (for the seat adjustment). There is a tab with a hole on the lever, however I can not find anything on the passenger side that looks like the spot for the other end that would work. I'm hoping that somebody has access to a bench seat and is able to send a photo of this detail so I can figure this all out. Thank you in advance, can't wait to get my MJ back on the road! Eagle
Maybe this will help. On the right track, where the diagram shows the number 2 pointing, there's a piece that looks like the one on the driver's side but it doesn't have the lever welded to it. That's where the wire goes. jdwillys
Thank you. Looks like the one and obvious spot is a hole that is shared with a spring. And I will use an S hook to support the wire from sagging,as per the detail you sent me. That should do it. Will be painting body parts and on the road/trails soon. According to the parts manual, two "S" hooks are required on the adjustment wire even though it only shows one.
jdwillys
Thank you! Looking at Craig's list and local yards for parts. I'll need two "s" hooks, one heavy gauge lever wire, and one large spring (passenger side). Or a bench seat that works. Wich ever I find first. hassyfoto
I have a grey bench seat complete. No tears, everything is in good working condition. I converted my truck to buckets seats and console and no longer need the seat. I had the seat listed on Craigslist a few months ago for $75.00. A reasonable offer would be accepted.
