xmeatbagx
when i turn my lights on at night my outside lights go on but no guage lights do. my idiot lights and blinkers work. i checked the light switch, fuse on fusebox, and speedo. everything looks good. i put a new speedo in and still have the problem. does anyone have any idea on what it could be? the more i think about it the more i get mad. my truck is a 2wd 1988 shortbed automatic 4.0L if that helps THANK YOU, Sean
UNL1MTD
Have they ever worked? I thought i had this problem. Really I just didnt understand the switch. Turn the knob counter clockwise as far as it will go. Your interior lights will come on. Then just back it off a bit clockwise and then your gauges will be lit up. Hopefully its just that. If the switch works, and the fuse is good, then it's gotta be a simple wiring problem (probably from the hot side). Look at a wiring diagram, and think about where the commonality is if all the panel lights are dead, then the answer should be clear.
mfpdm
I had a problem like this that took me about 45 minutes to figure out that I had turn the pull knob for the lights and dimmed them out. :dunce: Since you said you checked the switch, I'm assuming you checked that too. Could be the connection on the back of the instrument panel is not seated all the way.
