Flugondus
I have lots of noise coming from my steering fluid shooting out the cap and i allready replaced all the hoses put filters in and a new pump. still nothing. when the ngine is on the pressure hose vibrates intensely. it seems like the gearbox doesnt accept the pressure must be clogged up. so i have to bebuild the gearbox i think. anybody than that before?? any advice?? rockhardzj
No clue how to rebuild one, but I have one if you want it cheap.
JOMJ87
I believe the kit is only 20 bucks. They are simple by design once you crack them open. Its got a worm drive thingy and the box itself. The seals go bad and they will leak (like mine is) from the nose or from the pitman arm area. As far as being clogged i think if you just take the case apart and clean it really good and un gunk everything you might have it fixed but while your in there go ahead with all new seals and such cause they may not like being seperated then reasymbled. I am getting ready to do mine in a few weeks but i have taken 3 apart for various reason and its pretty easy. Hope this helsp and good luck. Eagle
Taking it apart is easy. Putting it back together correctly, without losing any of those little recirculating balls, is not so easy.
jeepthing07
its more complicated than ring and pinion set up from what i read in the FSM. it does call for an inch pound torque wrench and probably other special tools. I just replaced mine with a junkyard unit
