yxmj
1987 MJ 2.5 What is the purpose of this plug that gets plugged into the rear of the power steering pump. Changed out my pump to one that was a direct bolt in ....but did not have a spot for the plug. Truck is running fine so I am just wondering what the plugs purpose was? HOrnbrod
On the 2.5's the idle is bumped up a little by a high pressure switch when cranking the steering wheel into the stops. Supposed to keep the engine from stalling out under the power steering pump load. The torque-monster 4.0's do not have this feature. Some guys use this switch for a poor man's extended idle. 87Warrior
On my 86 2.5, the sensor is in the high pressure hose.
