Kenosha Warrior
a 4x4 driveshaft for a SWB is the same for a 4.0L/AW4 as a 2.5L/231? I know of a rear ds I can get for $50. from a 4.0L/AW4 comanche. Will that work?
mjturtle
anything can be made to work if you want it bad enough. the axles from a yj would take some work, as the comanche has coils and locating arms, where the yj is leaf sprung. i did this swap on a comanche about ten years ago. i had a two wheel drive long wheelbase with the 2.5. i bought a rusted cherokee for $200, that also had the 2.5. i swapped in the trans and transfer case, along with the vacuum disconnect garbage, the front axle, which had the right gear ratio to match my existing rear end. the front driveshaft from the cherokee was a direct fit, and i had a shop shorten my rear driveshaft. i think i swapped speedo cables, and some other minor stuff. its a lot easier and cheaper to have a donor cherokee..
