Futurecomancheowner
I just bought my first mj it's a 2x4 1988 manual 4.0l with only 119000 miles on it. When me and my friend were looking at it we checked it out, oil level, leaking fluids etc.. But we were driving it back with no problems at all, no ticks, no knocks or anything, and all of a sudden we hit a huge pothole in the road causing the front of the truck to shake uncontrollably (like a tire was way off balance) until we came to a stop on the side of the highway. So we got out and looked at the "damage" and we noticed there is oil sprayed all over the bottom side of the intake manifold and all over everything within that area. We looked at it for a while and could not figure out where it's coming from. So we started it back up and oil pressure was hanging around 20 at idle, we drove off to see how it would go, and oil pressure went back up to the normal 40 and it seems to be fine? So we drove for around 10 minutes on the highway, then pulled into a gas station to see how the oil leak was doing, it only dropped a few drops. So my question is; does anyone have any idea what could have happened?
Jeep Driver
Check your power steering pump/hoses.
Futurecomancheowner
Wouldn't that be power steering fluid though? Were driving it right now and the power steering is working flawlessly
Jeep Driver
OK, well.......I'm not there, who knows? Get two cans of Gunk and wash the engine down and look to see where it's coming from. I can't think of what would 'spray' oil on that side of the engine.........but.........
