jbain Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I know I could look it up but also wanted your guy opinion..... I will probably go pick up a 91 4.0 MJ 2wd with a 5 speed. Is this a AX5? I'll convert it over to 4wd auto but was wondering if the trans was worth anything?
HOrnbrod Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 AX5 is a 5-speed, but in 91 they were used only for the 2.5 and diesel models. The 91 4.0 got the beefier AX15 5-speed transmissions.
FrankTheDog Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Transmission is good for somebody who is swapping out a BA10 but wanting to stay 2wd. It's a bolt up for 87-91 4.0's. 92 and up has a different sized pilot shaft.
