SoCalComanche Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 i got my 87 MJ from my mother. i noticed the clutch master cylinder had been replaced. the dash lights and the fan motor do not work. i am thinking that at one time the clutch master cylinder may have leaked onto the inside and caused an issue with the fuse box. Does anyone have any advice for me to tell if this may be the problem. The tail lights work and i checked all of the fuses and they are not blown. Thanks for any help.
joester1908 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I had this same issue on my 88 Cherokee. There is a dash light fuse. It seems to me like if your fuse box shorted, it would just pop the fuses. The harness to the heater for us Renix guys are known for melting at the plug on the heater control. I believe the dash light fuse is a 5a. Id check that.
relyt120 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 You can usually tell if the fuse box is ruined by if the pins are backed out or your fuses are melted from the fluid.
SoCalComanche Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 i have pulled the fuses and they looked fine. No black color. i even cleaned the pins of the fuses to just be sure.
89comanchelilred Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Yea I have no dash lights or automatic lights for shifting I'm curious too all the fuses I checked under the driver side are fine I wonder if there is another set of fuses I don't know of
joester1908 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Hmmmm I don't believe so. Did you put a volt meter on the light socket? I bought my '88 and it had no dash lights, I checked the fuses, looked for shorts, etc, but it ended up the bulbs were just burnt out...
KuunLB Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 i've got the same problem, all my fuses are good. no radio, no dash lights, and no blower motor power. the blower motor fuse socket is burnt though
