KirkT
I am considering purchasing a 1988 Comanche, 4.0 inline 6, short bed, 4x4, interior in good shape, body good but paint I would say fair. What is a fair, ballpark purchase price for this truck? I have bought and restored numerous CJ's but no nothing about Comanches. I would appreciate any words of wisdom
AeroNautical
I got my 88 2wd, 4.0, short bed with decent interior, almost no rust, but less than desirable paint for $1250. Since the only real difference between mine and the one your looking at is it has 4wd, I'd say $1500 to 2 grand sounds about right. Stock, right? If it's properly lifted, larger tires, nice aftermarket parts, that price just keeps going up.
Blue88Comanche
We paid $1500 for dads 1989 4.0 I-6, Auto 2wd, SWB. It however had receipts for around $1000 worth of repairs done to it within the past six months (radiator, exhaust, so on)
jimoshel
That's like asking what kind of a woman makes the best wife. Too many variables and unknowns to fairly answer it. Is it rust free? Does it run? Out of a dozen MJ's Ive bought I only paid $300 for a 1988, rust free, 2.5, 4speed 2WD.4 years ago. It's been my DD ever since. The only thing I've done to it was add a stereo. and swap the bench seat for a set of buckets. There is such a wide disparagy between personal tastes across the country that something you can't give away in Boston will bring top dollar in LA. How bad do you want it and how much are you willing to pay? Around here a truck like you described is worth $1200-1500.
CGCWO
Just paid $1500 for a 2wd, 2.5L 2wd short-bed, body what i'll call very good, paint awful, interior fair, mechanically good and stock suspension. Prob paid a bit to much, but almost impossible to find one in Florida that isn't eaten up with rust, cut to H3LL for bogging or already restored/modded to owners taste.
