Oizarod115 Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 i wanna paint my jeep... maybe tomorrow, maybe sunday... i don't know. I'm thinking either flat black or white. keep in mind rattle can, and no dent fixing. what's your opinion, this is how she sits now...
Pete M Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 You live in Georgia. I'd go with white. :D I hate how the dark colors absorb the sunlight. :( Someday I'm going to paint my 88 in a light tan scheme, maybe camo. :brows:
pingpong Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Flat black just looks bad @$$ on a MJ :brows: Tan looks ok as well :brows: as does any flat primer color that comes in a rattle can or can be bought cheaply and sprayed well. Leave out primer gray.
87manche Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 don't use primer though, I prefer a "semi-gloss" for automobile paint. Primer is porous and doesn't seal the metal. Flat paint is a total PITA to clean mud off of. Gloss paint is a total PITA to spray and make look nice. Semi gloss is a nice mix of all of the above. I plan on painting the MJ with rustoleum "hammered" paint. The textured paint is easy to tough up, and it hides the outline/shape of dents well. and I like how it turned out on my front bumper.
Oizarod115 Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 save your money and spend it on a lift or winch. painting it would cost all of 40 bucks so I'm not worried about that... plus i just got new tires cause the old ones were about to cause (another) wreck so i can't lift it yet (they were a graduation present i can't just get rid of them) this is being put on hold i suppose for now because i just threw down 200 bucks on a running XJ that is STRICTLY for parts (went in with my bro and another guy) so I'm getting AW4/np231/shifting stuff/w/e i need out of that. but i still wanna hear opinions!
Oizarod115 Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 is that flat white on the XJ or semi-gloss?
