Lee21490 Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 So to revive this thread from the dead again.. Update: Just swapped in the 8.8 today, Drove down the road & I no longer have a clunk when stopping. But now have a new problem, New axle is making weird sounds. Sounds almost like when drum brakes are dragging a little, But really loud & pretty much only when you have your foot on the gas. Put it in nuetral / let it idle in drive while going down the road & it stops making the sound.
Jeep Driver Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Yep, I know the sound. R&P I'm afraid. Pinion bearing will sing.......not a low level howl. BTW......my D35 did that for a year, so I don't know that it's an immediate curse......just something you'll eventually have to deal with.
