quaddub_comanche
Hey guys, I think I know the answer to this question but would like confirmation. I have an automatic 2wd (tree shifter) with a straight bench seat (no notch) in really good condition, and will be doing a 4wd tranny swap in the next couple months. Is the floor shifter going to be too close to the seat to be usable? Should I start looking for XJ seats instead? Looks like it'll be cutting it close, but may still work. Wondering if anyone else has tried this or seen it done.
Incommando
Worked right on mine. When you do the swap do yourself a favor and search up he after market t-case linkage. It will save you a ton of time and probably some money too.
nitroxsteve
I believe the seat notch was just to clear the transmission shifter. It should work fine.
dasbulliwagen
I think your seat will work, but you just won't be able to adjust it forward. Thats mostly what the notch is for. Mine has the notch, and with the seat all the way back, it is about flat across from one side to the other across the $#!&er mini console. If youre shorter and need the seat forward a bit, it might not work.

Or just a good idea to replace the linkage for easier shifting? I think your seat will work, but you just won't be able to adjust it forward. Thats mostly what the notch is for. Thanks for your help, this is good news. Now to get my ax-15 installed..
Incommando
The factory set up is troublesome. The mounts are a pain. Rather than sourcing all of the factory pieces it would definitely be easier and probably cheaper to get that linkage. Then you just need the shifter itself.
