Tanner
Has anyone done a complete re-wire in their engine compartment? Mine is a mess and there a quite a few wires with their coating worn through and connectors that go to nothing (it is quite possible that they are supposed to, however I've checked everything I thought they could belong to with no avail) so I just would like to hear from some of you who may have also had to do this. ftpiercecracker1
IMO If its as far gone as what you say, i believe the best option is to find another harness out of a JY. But if the truck is running/driving without issue i would first try to salvage your current harness before going through the trouble of tearing the whole thing out. Its really six of one half a dozen of the other work wise. Electrical work is extremely tedious, so don't get discouraged. When i was "restoring" my MJ i too had the inclination to remove and replace, but instead decided to salvage. I ended up having the engine harness strewn across my entire living room for several weeks fixing, recrimping, and rewrapping. If you decide to go the replacement route, i believe you will have a much easier time finding a donor since your truck is an automatic. Any RENIX (87-90) 4.0 cherokee that is also an auto will be a direct fit for your MJ. I do recommend you seek out a NON C101 harness, as they are all to often the source of many electrical issues. Best of luck. FPC

I would obviously like to avoid fires, hence my contemplation of replacement, thank you for the info and advice. Pardon my ignorance but c101? benjy_26
I soldered my crimpded connections, replaced frayed wires, and re-wrapped my harness with new split loom and friction tape. I was able to salvage most of it, but did replace a surprising amount of connectors and wire.
