well i took the leafs off the 44 and noticed that the bottom of the housing on the right side is flat on the bottom..for spring under, my sisters husband said he ground down the housing a bit to do spring over but i was wondering would i need to do this or is my comanche's frame wide enough to where i can just have regular perches for a SOA on it?

EDIT: i googled a bit and found out i do have to make the housing somehow accept the SOA.. this is gonna be tricky

is this a rear D44?

put it under the truck, set the pinion angle and weld new perches on, simple as that.

you can get perches from the chryco dealer for like $8.

good stuff, made for muscle car guys.

nope its a front 44 offest to the drivers side so it was weird that the diff kinda gets in the way... i don't wanna shave it down if i don't have to

yep iam doin front leafs with a front 44 but it looks weird since the spring is on the diff.... someone said to shave it but is there another way?

I think there's pictures of mine in my build thread?

I think I had to grind it a bit and weld the perch to the casting. They sat high because of that. But that was with going at 32" centre-centre. If you go any wider the tires will really be into the springs. As it is I rub them all the time.

oh ill be running 35-36" SX swampers.. prolly 13.5 or more wide... i like wide tires lol...

how much did you grind down on the diff part? did you need a special perch or just any one?

I don't recall how much I ground. I think it was minimal.

I made my own perches. I just used a different size of tubing for the one so it would be level with the other one (that was welded to the axle tube instead of the centre section).
