Cmbechtold
Hey guys does a 89 comanche pioneer have 4wd light? as of right now the only light that stays on is the part time light and i think thats because whoever had it before me locked them in place. Reason I'm asking is because I am unsure if 4 wheel high is staying in I can feel 4 wheel low working but I have no indicator telling me if its even on. cruiser54
The indicator is the transfer case lever position. The light is vacuum activated by a vacuum switch on the transmission. You shouldn't need it at all. We drove for decades with only lever position to tell us which range we were in.
Eagle
If you have an '88 Comanche you have a front axle with a vacuum actuated disconnect. It is possible for the transfer case to be in 4WD and the indicator light to be lit (yes, the "Part Time" light is the 4WD indicator) but if the vacuum disconnect isn't working, you don't really have functional 3WD.
