I just picked up my first Comanche last week and had a few general questions about it. First off it is the 2.8 V6 motor that has not had the best reviews. I have no money to drop a new motor into it and was wondering how long it would last me. It has 96k original miles and runs great. It needs a little bit of work but is it worth it with the 2.8? The truck has no rust anywhere and is a solid truck for the year. Also I'm not sure how to post pictures. I'm new to this website. Thanks.

The 2.8 in my Comanche lasted 112,000 miles and then went quietly into the night. # 4 cyl developed a rather large hole in the piston, never made any noise or gave any clue it was going, it just went. It’s all good, the other guy would of never sold her to me if it had kept running.

A lot of people here can attest to the 2.8's... odd lifespan. Some have had their's last over 200k and some not even 65. If it runs right, just drive and enjoy it. As with any engine, you'll snag more miles out of it with just very basic, preventative maintenance.
