jimoshel
I'm replacing the slave cylinder, or trying to. They got the correct cylinder in the package but the wrong instructions. The two plastic, nylon? straps holding the cylinder compressed. Should they be cut, removed after installation, or not. Does the first clutch operation break them? '90 MJ, 4.0, AX15. The book just doesn't say. Tnx in advance, Jim :dunno:
yxmj
I just snip mine at the last minute when I am sliding the trans when I can still get at them. Never thought about breaking them with the first clutch pump.......I wonder if that would work :dunno: EDIT....The google machine says you can leave them on...http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/internal-slave-cylinder-question-736063/ http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/slave-cylinder-installation-internal-183255/
48MJ
I believe if I remember correctly they stay on and beak when clutch is first depressed. I cut mine and everything worked right but then read the directions later on and they said to leave the on.
jimoshel
Never thought to Google it. Good reading. Now I'm wondering why I'm messing with a internal slave when I have couple external set ups. Looks like I'm going to change horses in the middle of the stream.
