TheDirtyJeep401
I was at the salvage yard (As Usual) and the 2.5 i pulled my valve cover off was electronically fuel injected. It was in a Cherokee. So does that mean later year of Cherokees had EFI 2.5?

87Warrior
I would wager to say the 86-90 Renix TBI is electronic fuel injection. It certainly isn't mechanical fuel injection like you would find on a 50's Vette. I suspect you are actually referring to the 91+ Chrysler multi-port fuel injection. Shoot, I have an old 1967 VW Type 3 station wagon that has multi-port EFI. It's analog and not digital, but still EFI. :)
TheDirtyJeep401
Now comes my next question, can I take all the peices off of it for the multi port, and put it on my 2.5? Or would I have to get the whole engine? I know there other peices that I need but didnt know if the blocks are the same. I like the Muti Port design and would like to put it my Comanche sometime down the line of years. Never seen one before (Although I never really payed attention either) Thanks
onlyinajeep726
You can, but you'd need to swap computer, harness and likely inside dash harnesses too. Block and head should be same, but I'll let another member chime in on that part. It's something I contemplated in my '86 but for all that work, I just went ahead and threw in a 4.0 instead. Comanchemodder
Some more items: 1) Higher fuel pressure required, ie. new fuel pump. 2) MPI flywheel is different from Renix 3) Ditributor is different 4) as stated above, ECU change out required (possibly all the sensors too?) I am planning on this conversion myself but am waiting to get everything in order before moving forward. Some great info from my post at 4WDmechanix: http://forums.4wdmechanix.com/topic/227-25l-tbi-jeep-will-an-mpi-conversion-require-a-new-flywheel/
