pentonkid
My 1986 2.5l Comanche, long bed, rear wheel drive, has developed some electrical issues. (1) The tail lights do not come on when the headlight switch is pulled. The headlights work properly. (2) The emergency flashers work for 2 to 3 seconds and then the fuse for them blows. Also they flash very quickly until said fuse blows. (3) Brake lights do not come on when brakes are applied. (3) Turn signal fuse blows in short order; similar to the emergency flashers. When the right turn signal is applied, the dash turn signal indicator light is dim. Also the blinkers flash faster than normal. The fuse block has no brake fluid on it from the clutch master cylinder. Could someone please inform me how to methodically check things out and correct the problem/problems? kq.echo.413
Check engine ground wire.. And make sure your brake system is not leaking fluid behind the fuse block

87MJTIM
Check and clean the ground wire under the driver's rear tail light. If that checks out, then check the turn signal switch. It is in the steering column, so you will need a puller to get it out. All the symptoms you described run through that switch.
pentonkid
This is going to be fun!!! Thanks!
87MJTIM
If it is the turn switch, did I mention you will need to get under the dash. Get a manual and some tools. I like Haynes more than Chiltons. But that is my opinion. Take your time. It is not hard. The puller can be rented/loaned from many autoparts stores. Pepboys does free loaner for pullers. Jeep Driver
v I'll leave you guys with these links for your Renix stuff. I no longer have the time or proper attitude to sort through all the thread derailment, pontificating, and lack of practical problem solving that CC used to have. It's no fun anymore. I dread clicking on the CC link in my favorites as a matter of fact, knowing I will be disappointed. http://comancheclub.com/topic/36382-cruisers-renix-tips/ http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/cruiser54s-mostly-renix-tips-153657/ http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f140/cruisers-mostly-renix-tips-1304879/
