Tranny Skidplate

Hi Everyone -

I tried to remove the tranny skidplate on my '89 Pioneer. I thought I had the bolt free but it spins ... and spins ... and spins. Is this bolt attached to some kind of weld nut inside the frame that has broken loose? Any suggestions?

You got it. If you can reach the loose nut with a wrench, or vise grips, then remove the bolt. Otherwise you have to remove the head of the bolt. cutting torch, grinder or hammer and chisel and then drop the plate.

WHEN you get it out...

 

I used self tappers to put it back in.  Works fine, been there for years, don't have to mess with those pesky weld nuts.  If I don't have to re-use them I always re-move them.
