Shorten Wheel Base

May be picking up an 98 4 banger 2wd long bed comanche.I have a wrangler for off road. I was wondering with this being 2wd it would look better as a short wheel base. Has anyone shortened one? Is the cab made to the frame? If so I would have to use the cab that came with the short frame and bed so I'd be pretty much replacing the whole truck. Just exploring options. Thanks

You basically bob the bed. Long bed wheel bases are longer than a shortbeds.

 

Id just buy a shortbed than cut up a long bed IMO.

2wd and 4wd do not matter. they are identical chassis. the cab and frame are a uniframe construction, so they are mated. shortening the wheelbase on the back frame section is easy enough.

I looked through the suggested thread. Fella did a great job. Doesn't look too difficult. I would eventually make the little truck a 4x4 but it will remain a street truck for a while . Thanks again!
