Ok so I've got an 86 manche they I've recently put a crate motor in. Well it's a 2.8 litre and I know it's not ideal however I decided to just tI keep it stock for simplicity.

Anyways. It's running like $#!&. I think we've got all the vaccume lines reattached and the carb was rebuilt. Heck just about everything is new on it. I've taken it to a few mechanics, but I'm finding they they don't want to spend the time to figure out what the problem is.

Anyone want to offer any advice?

You bought a crate 2.8?  :ack:

I hope you didn't pay much for it.  Could've gotten a 3.4 and been better off.  I mean, if you're going to go through all that work anyway, might as well upgrade right? lol

I'm sure someone with experience on the 2.8 will chime in... I heard they're pretty scary with the 20 something miles of vac hose...

Yeah they are. So I changed the valve covers. Which sucked because they weren't baffled so once I did that I noticed a big drop in power. So I added a breather cap and a pcv valve grommet attachment to baffle the pcv valve.

However the power never returned. I was thinking it might he because of the vacuum advance. Does the vacuum advance need to be connected? Anyone on here with the same engine set up who could lend me some advice? I'm dying here. I've spent too much money qt this point to go another engine route.

I might decide to upgrade it to fuel Injection if that not too difficult to do.
