89MJComanche
I spent the better part of today installing a new gas tank in my 1992. Now I have no working fuel gauge! Checked the sending unit! Not sure what to do? Could this be a tank ground problem?
89MJComanche
Okay so I pulled the sending unit back out. And I move the sending unit by hand and the gage goes up-and-down fine! Is there a possibility that this Spectra tank could have something it's making contact with the float? I'm going now to put a full tank of gas in it to see what happens! It has 10 gallons in it right now and is reading E! Anyone have any idea how I could have messed up the sending unit simply by swapping it from one tank to another? GirsMJ86
I'd say it isn't grounding. Should be two grounds I believe, though I've never messed with a sending unit so just going off what I seem to remember reading.
onlyinajeep726
It's likely what you alluded to... the floater is getting hung on something. When I replaced my fuel pump on mine, I had the same issue. Take it back out and reposition it. It would be beneficial to remove those check valves on the topside of the tank so you can look into the tank once you get the assembly back in position to verify the floater can move freely.
