N-GA-COMANCHE Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 What's up Jeep peeps. I just bought a 1986 Comanche, 2.5, 2wd, 4spd longbed. The truck is in pretty good condition. The body and interior is almost spotless, but the motor needs a little help. First thing I noticed was that the intake duct, which is basically some black slinky looking crap is all torn up. I know that this can't be good for the engine. I tried looking for some aftermarket CAI's and didn't really find anything, and I tried looking for the original intake duct and didn't find anything either. What can I do or use or buy to correct this issue. I don't feel like its a good idea to drive the truck if it could possibly suck in dirt, water or old intake duct crap into the throttle body. Help me please. part #3 http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Air-Intake-Du...sfg~~60_12.JPG
N-GA-COMANCHE Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 sorry for the grey background text stuff. I copied the text from my account on JeepForum
jimoshel Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Dryer vent duct. Works great and is cheaper than auto parts prices.
TheDirtyJeep401 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Great temporary fix, duct tape  :agree: And welcome to the club, you came to the right place.
N-GA-COMANCHE Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Thanks. I will try the duct tape for now. And then fabricate something more reliable. If I were to make my own intake do i need to connect all of the vacuum lines that are on the existing air box.
yxmj Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Hit a JY there are tons of YJ's XJ's and ZJ's that use the same set up. You should be able to pick up the tube (and air box if needed) for less than the cost of a repair
