Bornindesert
The good.... the Bad...bush hog spit a big hunk of wood in the general direction of my Comanche and the ugly.... Go figure, one side is way worse than the other ? Is 15 y/o too young to start learning body and paint ? Run the sand blaster ? On a serious note, if you've recently used a good body and paint product and really liked it, please post it up. I'll need the usual suspects...phosphate rust prep, filler, primer system, feather fill and a top coat system. Nothing too elaborate, will be Arizona pin striped after a few trail rides in the desert... If this is too techy, ok to move...was really looking for some sympathy on moving towards the next phase of the build.
xjrev10
Rust is always worse on the driver side then the passenger side for whatever reason I have noticed. I think it has to do with the state spreading salt in the center of the road whether the road is a 2 lane or a split 4 lane. Their spreader spinner is always on the driver side of the truck.... Bornindesert
I never thought of that but agree, driver side gets all the splash from then oncoming lane and Indiana definitely likes to throw down some salt :)

RubberDuck
Feels better and better to live in California. all the rust I have is on the passenger side drip rail and on the bed where the previous owner did a bad job installing rails.
sinkrun
I never thought of that but agree, driver side gets all the splash from then oncoming lane and Indiana definitely likes to throw down some salt :) Must be why when you find a factory bedside its always the drivers side there all quite scarce however all the ones I have found have been drivers side. Bornindesert
Taking care of the Ugly Used the cut-off and a new flanger I picked up from HF on Easter, 25% off. The flange tool gives you a little offset, and a clean punch to weld through All healed up, just need to grind, bump with a body hammer, treat the steel, fill and sand. I don't do this stuff for a livin' so please let me know what you all think of my rust repair.
92tanMJ
I don't do this stuff for a living either but why did you just treart the inside, and bondo the outside? Instead of going through all of that work?
Bornindesert
Zack I think that's what I'll do on the other spot, which is not nearly as bad as this repair area. It was a about two hours to do this job, plus side was my son is there helping so is learning basic fabrication and repair work.
