Comanche County
I have WJ steering and WJ brakes on my MJ. However, I have an export WJ knuckle on the driver's side using the two upper arms for high steer, it is reamed for 1-ton tie-rod ends set up with an inverted T steering. If you're dead set on an WJ brake and steering set up and if you're under 4" of lift I'd recommend retaining the stock UTK WJ steering and retain the crossover steering. If you're higher then I'd go OTK and retain the crossover system. After driving mine for the last couple of years with the inverted T, I think I'd rather have an OTK crossover set up. Yes, the WJ axles are a bit wider, you'd have to shorten your drag link and tie rod. The easy way is to get the knuckles and brakes mounted first then measure how much you have to shorten the tie rod and drag link. You can cut it yourself, then take it to a machine shop to get some DOM tubing welded over the WJ rods and get welded and reinforced. Otherwise, you're better off getting custom links made for your tie rod and drag link. This is a common swap. I recently had T&T customs out of Wyoming make new rods for me. It ran about $200 bucks. You might get off cheaper by having a local machine shop sleeving a stock set up from a WJ. Here's mine, not pretty but it works well, I surprisingly locked up the 35s on dry pavement the other day......: http://comancheclub.com/topic/22479-deep-in-the-heart-of-comanche-county/page__st__160 If you have and questions about the particulars, PM me...
