My truck was a 5 speed and it is now a auto. I need a pic of where the shifter cable punches through the firewall. A couple pics from a few different angles inside would be great.

Bo, I don't have any pics that I know of, I'll look though. But as I recall, the hole is a couple inches below where the wire harness goes through for the ECU on the drivers side.

LOL, about that hole. Mine is an 86 so TCM wiring was not an option. I just need a ballpark idea. I'm trying to get all my under hood and under body junk hooked up so I can run pipes and trans lines.

Well crap....LOL. If you can give me until tomorrow around noon, I can have a picture or two for you. Unless someone else has one they can toss up.

here's a pic of the 98 donor firewall from inside. The firewall to transmission tunnel is shaped slightly different, but it should give you an idea of where the shifter cable goes through.

Thank you!

Looks like my shifter cable won't play nice with the exhaust and the back of the motor. I am going to pick up a B&M Star Shifter and see if that is a better fit.

One thing just leads to another on this truck. Oh well, it's fun!

The shifter cable does not go thru the firewall. It goes thru the trans tunnel on the drivers side just back of where the firewall starts going up. I had this same trouble and I spent all day looking for the hole.

Edited to add: It won't be a hole by the way, it'll be a flat rubber plug. Might have a hole in it, might not, mine did not, since it was a manual originally. I got my shifter cable at the JYard, it already had the grommet attached. It;s ROUND!! Not oval.
