2.5 To 4.0

how of a big deal is it to change an mj with a 2.5 to 4.0

 

I have a 89 with a 4.0 only 61,000 mile but the body is shoot.

I found one that is an 89 also with a 2.5 does run.

 

I'm thinking about picking up if it an no big deal to change over. any in put would help

Many people have done it, but it is work. You have to change all the underhood wiring harness. If you're going from MJ to MJ, you have one advantage -- when people do this swap using an XJ as the donor vehicle, there's a some customizing required to make the brake lights function correctly.

It is not a one weekend job, so if I were to buy a 2.5 to be a body donor I wouldn't buy it unless the body and frame were pretty much completely dent and rust free.

thats what I'm looking for, one with little rust. the only thing that worries me are the motor mounts on the unibody.

What's the worry? The motor mounts go in the same place.
