Okay, dropped mj off at the shop for emissions and inspection. Went to start the WJ, nothing but clicking. Figured it was the starter selenoid. Rapped it a few times with a wrench, turned key, turned over but not very convincingly. Cleaned bat. terminals, made sure they were tight, hooked up charger on " start". Turned over a few times slowly before finally starting. Ran for a little while, but then stalled out. Lights and radio all seem okay. Easy fix would be if it was the battery( bad cell?). Or is it something else? It hjas a 4.0 and it's an auto. CPS was changed last year. If I put the charger on set to charge, after a min. the charge complete light comes on. :???:

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

All signs seems to be pointing to a battery that isn't holding much of a charge. The 4.0L's with the coil rail (like yours) need a minimum voltage to stay running or else no sparky. The Jeep probably ran for a little until it drained the battery and that's when it stalled. Most auto parts stores will do a free load test on your battery. If it turns out to be bad, pop a new one in there. If you're on a tight budget, thank the auto parts person for testing the battery and take it to your nearest Walmart. They have the cheapest prices on new batteries that I've seen. Not the greatest quality, but it'll get you going again.

So far, I've seen cheapest prices at Advance Auto using their online order system with applicable coupon codes. Got a battery there for $70 after tax that was originally around $110 or so. Try codes CCABIN or VISA -- they give the biggest discounts.
