89Tonto Posted July 3, 2012 Share Posted July 3, 2012 I need some help determining the year on a 4.0L that a buddy picked up in a trade. It is completely different then my 90 4.0L (renix) motor. This motor has 909MX- 11 or II on the valve cover. I would say its 91-92 or newer. On the valve cover of the donor 4.0L is 009MX25. Trying to determine the year so I can find the correct range of engine harnesses for a swap into a CJ. :thumbsup: Do you need more info or can someone help me on what I have posted. HOrnbrod Posted July 3, 2012 Share Posted July 3, 2012 Valve covers can be swapped around easily between the 4.0 engines and wouldn't be an accurate way to verify the year mfg. A more accurate way would be to ID the block and head casting numbers.
