are.ilm2
Hello all, I need to buy a Jeep for donor parts. I am mainly looking for some cosmetic pieces, front bumper, grill, front piece where the hood clasp is (around the grill) and some interior parts. I have an '89 long bed now, I'm looking at two door XJ's now, I will not rule out an engine swap or transmission swap in the future. Am I looking at several donors, or is there one year that an XJ can contribute the most. I've searched the forum, but if there is a helpful thread out there, please point it out to me. Thanks! Pete M
87-90 will share the most parts (including wire harness and sensors), but all years could contribute something depending on what you have and what you're looking for. what engine and trans type do you have now? Eagle
You are better off looking for 4-door XJs. First, they are easier to find. Second, the Comanche uses the same doors as the 4-door XJ, not the 2-door.

Eagle
BTW, I believe 1990 was the year they changed the grille and header, so if your grille is good and all you need is the header, 1984 thru 1989 XJ will be the years that fit. 1990 and newer you would need the header plus a new grille and both headlight bezels.
