Cherokee air intake box into a comanche

I have a bit of an idling problem, and some floppy cold air intake in place of the box. Will a air box assembly from a 6cyl Cherokee fit in 2.5 1986 comanche?

I've never tried it, but visually, it appears that no, it won't bolt in and work easily.

 

The front firewall/radiator support and the power steering reservior (if you have P/S) definitely would be in the way for the OEM 4.0L air box. The angles and length of the air intake tube from the box to the throttle body would be significantly different as well between the 2.5 and 4.0.

 

But with some fabrication, it may work, just not a bolt in kinda thing.

 

I believe I have a 2.5L air box and tube amongst my parts pile. I might be willing to ship it if you want it.
