Cowl hood

Recommended Posts

Looking into putting a cowl hood on my 89 MJ. The Reflexxion ones are hard to find and pretty pricey when I do. I was looking at the EFX Cowl Hoods. The price is right but I can't find any pictures of one on a MJ or XJ that i could see if they looked good. Has anyone ever put one on there trucks and did you like them?

Thanks

Glenn

I have a used Reflexxion hood on mine that I was lucky to find on Ebay for cheap. They still pop up occasionally. It's a great cooling mod for the stroker and that's why I like it so much. One of the drawbacks though is that the 2" cowl hits the right wiper arm post at the full open hood slot, and I have not yet figured out how to fix it w/o surgery on the hood. So I just remove the the wiper arm when I have to open er up all the way. Kind of a PITA but I can live with it. And it fits as well as the OEM hood. :D

I've never heard of EFX hoods until I read your post. If they are using the Reflexxion mold and stamp press (the base of the hood on the Reflexxion hood is an OEM hood) it should be good, and it's a good price too. It's all-metal too so they say, so it's not an ill-fitting fiberglass knockoff POS. I'd say go for it.

I too Run the Reflexxion Hood...

The Reflexxion Hood is a Steel Hood and Yes the PS Wiper arm needs to come off if you need to open the hood all the way but it is worth it...

Well I don't think it's going to work out anyway. Both sites that said that they had the EFX cowl hoods in stock now say that they are sorry but they are now out of stock. I can't stand when companies do this kind of thing. If you don't have it in stock or are no longer going to keep it on stock why not say so. I placed orders on both sites and an hour later I get an E-MAIL saying that theydon't have it and my credit card will be credited in a few days. Well that means I have to keep an eye on my credit card so I don't overdraft it for a week. What a damn hassle for nothing!

No I didn't know that was the case. But Thank you for the information! That's why I asked if anyone ever used or saw one on a jeep MJ or XJ. None of the sites listed a picture of the hood like the Reflexxion Hoods did. I guess I'll just keep an eye out for one of the Reflexxion hoods. If any knows or sees one for sale I'd appreciate a heads up!

Thanks

Yeah I think many of the websites out there list years/models for "universal" applications on many different products. Kinda gives you a false sense of fitment for your application.
