RockMJ
Hey guys, I did a few searches for the info I'm looking for to no avail. Most of the guys on here swap out the current their gauge clusters for ones with tachometers, however, I am not doing this. I'm keeping the cluster I have but I'm adding an aftermarket tachometer into the setup. Question is, what is the wire color in the cluster that I can tap the new tachometer into to make it work? I read a few posts for earlier years (mines an 88 4.0) saying its a white wire with a green tracer. I looked through the manual I have without luck so any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone, RockMJ
jimoshel
Jeep is notorious for not following their own color codes. The wire you want will be coming off terminal 12 on the instrument panel plug.
RockMJ
I know this all to well. When I swapped in a V8 drivetrain from a late 96 ZJ into my early 97 ZJ it was a nightmare. I will take a look and post up pics for clarity! Thanks a ton RockMJ

87Chief
Could you post a DIY on this? I would like to an aftermarket tach.
jimoshel
FYI, Besides pin 12 on the instrument cluster plug, terminal C on the Ignition module and D1-1 on the diagnostic connector can also be used.
