2brandonb
will the interior of a XJ match up with the MJ. I am restoring a truck and I am looking for information on the seat brace and if it matches. Brandon
ParadiseMJ
No year of seat bracket is a direct bolt in from XJ to MJ (the floor is different). Almost any year seat will fit if you remove the bracket from your current seat, bench OR bucket, and re-install them on the new seat. Do not get seats with the curved (rocker or rocket) sliders. They will seat you about 2-3 inches taller. If you are 5'5", OK, if you're 6'+ you'll be rubbinbg the headliner with your head.
kyleag89
I use XJ straight bucket tracks and bolt the MJ pedestals to them.
terrawombat
I use XJ straight bucket tracks and bolt the MJ pedestals to them. Me too, but it will cause the XJ seats to sit a bit on the high side. I would say between 2-3 inches higher than where they are in an XJ.
kyleag89
I'm not sure on the height difference but I think they sit at perfect height in an MJ, I am 6'2" too.
terrawombat
The height difference also heavily depends on the style of XJ seat you're using. The "rocket-ship" style ones out of a 2-door XJ sit higher than the regular 2-door XJ doors that just slide back and forth (I'm speaking about both when they're mounted to MJ seat mounts taken from a bench seat). terrawombat
Also known as "rocker" or "curved." Basically, instead of reclining the rear seat back, you rock the seat backward and forward to obtain your desired tilt. Also, see pic:

kyleag89
Notice how the XJ straight and MJ bucket use the same tracks just different pedestals. The only other difference other than the floor pedestals/brackets is the MJ seat tilted forward for easier access to the cargo area behind the seats. A XJ bucket on straight tracks only slides forward like terawombat said so it makes it a little more difficult to get behind the seats.
terrawombat
There were also XJ straight bracket seats that folded forward out of the 2-doors. Ive got a set.
