Walkenvol
Everyone seems to agree that the external clutch slave is preferred to the internal option with the AX-15. How problematic is the internal slave? Are the internal slaves worse than the external slaves or is it strictly the access issue when a problem develops? If I'm changing the motor is it woth the expense to buy an external slave bellhousing and slave cylinder setup to make this change? Is there a difference between the wrangler ax-15 bellhousing and the MJ / XJ ax-15 bellhousing?
64 Cheyenne
TJ, MJ, XJ AX-15 BH all the same. PIA to fix internal slave, if you can pull/install tranny TC combo shouldn't really be an issue. Matter of convenience. Most replacement slave assembly's say to replace clutch master at the same time or warranty will be void, new MC= new clean fluid= longer service life. Consensus is to only buy the Mopar parts for long trouble free life. Either internal or external.
mnkyboy
You would also need a new bearing retainer on the transmission which are usually $150+ unless you can find a used one
