Suprajeep Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Okay first have to say this site has helped me alot on my DD/Project. I started with a 86' LWB 4x4 2.5L 4 Speed. I now have a 3.4L v6 with a AX-5 W/ external slave 231 x case with a demolished bed. So here's my question i bought a 1989 SWB with a 4.0, What would it take to shorten my LWB to fit a SWB?? I've looked everywere for frame specs to no avail. Thanks All.

Geonovast Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 You can't just shorten the truck to fit a short bed. The frames are completely different, and the axle's not even in the same place on a lwb and swb.
Suprajeep Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 Ah i see. I was thinking of movin my spring perches up to accomadate the stock driveline from the short box thus fitting the short box but i guess not quite that simple
veritas4156 Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 One thought might be to take the short bed box, throw it on the longbed chassis and bolt it up towards the back. Then build a tool box type thing between the cab and bed to make up the space. Could be awesome and would be handy.
