stewbrew1 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 This all started several months ago, I have been looking for a project for my family to work on. I have always wanted an MJ (I thought it would be a good first car for my daughter since it will only haul a few people). We looked high and low in our area and were looking out of state when one day on craigslist one finally appeared. We went and looked at it, it had some damage on the left bed corner and the drivers floor was pretty rusty. The guy was asking $500, and we talked him down to $350. I was able to drive it home about 25miles. Here it is sitting in its new home. First thing we did was tear out the interior and started pulling the dent on the bed.
peteco Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 great job, keep the pix coming...looks like a real find.
stewbrew1 Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Next we start pulling the floor panels and supports Then we started patching in panels and the new floorboard from Classic to Custom My 10 year old wanted in on the action Seam sealer Now we had to figure out a new brace...Went and bought $3 worth of scrap starting to fab time to fit to the new floor I will post more when I get them welded and cleaned.
stewbrew1 Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 We are also working on the bed corner, it sure would have been easier if the made bed patch panels...I wound up cutting the corner off and pounding it out then welding it back on. Before cutting it off Welding back on...forgot to take some pics while it was off Corner after welding and pounding.. Time for bondo
stewbrew1 Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 We also took off the front bumper, straightened, stripped and repainted My 10yr old has been having fun stripping off the old graphics We also put in a new valve cover gasket Before: After:
buxmj Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Great find and great work already! What condition is the engine? Are you going to repaint it? If so, same color I hope.
