91coMANche Posted January 22, 2011 Share Posted January 22, 2011 I like doing AC work when its cold out/low humidity. As far as I can tell the AC does not work. I assume a charge is the first step. Then what? During the engine swap I had the condenser up front all wrapped to the side so I didn't crack a line. Isn't a 91 R12? I would want to convert to something cheaper but then I would have to redo all the rubber hoses. Can anyone explain what I should be looking to do? Any parts store sells the adapter fittings that will screw over your high and low side R12 ports to make them adapt to r134A. Then you need to get everything out and you should bring it to a vacuum but not 100% necessary. Then charge it with a special conversion oil and new 134A, the oil will have dye in it. By doing it this way it is the easiest and cheapest but will shorten the life of the R12 compressor, but I figure who cares one from a JY is 10 bucks. Been running mine like this for 2 years.
