pug Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I searched for a link on how to add a leafspring and witch one. I thought it was the main leaf just cut of the bushings on each side. thanks
pug Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Passenger side is sagging about 2 inches lower then driverside i have 2wd springs with new bushings. I also have set of 4wd springs with bad bushings. I wanted to use main leaf on 2wd springs and put on the 4wd springs but cut off the bushing ends of the 4wd. I know it sounds like a lot of work taking old bushings out was a pain. Thanks
Pete M Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 yes, that should all work for ya. as you take them apart, keep an eye out for cracked leafs.
pug Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Will do. Will i gain any lift i only want to gain about inch not counting the sagging springs. thanks
pug Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 I forgot to ask what size bolt that holds the leafsprings together and how long. thanks
pug Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 When i add the extra leafspring the clamp that holds the leaf together will not be tall enough. Do i need to have these clamps. There are two clamps one at each end of the spring pack. thanks
Pete M Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I left the retaining clamps, but didn't put in a bolt. it's only been an issue when the truck was up on a lift and the leafs max out (and even then it's only happened once). a quick whack with a hammer put everything back into alignment. don't know what the center bolt is, but I was able to get one at the hardware store that was grade 8 and had a round head on it (the ones that take the allen wrench).
