martens.jam Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I just bought an 88 MJ. I need to do some repairs on the cooling system (coolant tank is broken)and I've got a 92 XJ for parts. How hard is it to convert to the open loop (?) system. Thanks.
Geonovast Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Since you have an entire donor, it's pretty simple. Just remove all the cooling stuff from the 88, and move the 92 stuff over.
martens.jam Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 My donor isn't complete. The motor has already been pulled. I think I just need to change the rad, drivers side rad hose, the heater hoses and heater control valve.
martens.jam Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 I've got next week off of work so I hope to git r done then. Guess we'll see how it all works out.
Darren Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I just used a generic overflow bottle from NAPA when I did my swap on my 87. Worked great.
martens.jam Posted December 25, 2010 Author Posted December 25, 2010 I just used a generic overflow bottle from NAPA when I did my swap on my 87. Worked great. That's a good idea. I'll see if I can find a spot for the newer Jeep one but if that doesn't work out I'll look into a generic one. Thanks.
comanche12 Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 I hear that mountain dew bottle work for temporary overflow bottle  just kidding
