  1. Thanks for the info guys. I'm not sure when I'll be doing it due to lack of funds but hopefully I can do something soon to make it more reliable. For now I guess I'm stuck doing research and asking questions :typing:
  2. Hey guy's :waving: I recently bought an 89 Pioneer and the engine is in sad shape, it burns and leaks oil, and the exhaust manifold is cracked and needs replacement or welding. I want to buy a parts XJ and I'm strongly considering an engine swap to the newer HO engine. I'm just wondering what kind of man hours I can expect to do the wiring harness swap. Also the XJ I'm considering has a 5spd in it but I might want to keep my automatic, is the wiring still somewhat the same? Any thoughts? Thanks
  3. I dunno but if your gauges don't work either it sounds like maybe your ignition switch isn't working. Does it click or anything?
  4. Hey all, Need some input before Wednesday. Just wondering if the windshield from a 98 XJ will fit in an 89 MJ :dunno: I want to buy a write off for parts and it's being auctioned off on Wed.
  5. Love the color, I might do that on mine too. Or maybe Olive drab.
  6. Didn't get the donor :( :( but i'll have to keep my eyes open for another
  7. I found out it is an 89 not an 88 so I edited the post subject. I also found out the former owner bought it from his father in law when it was only 3 years old and it only had about 34,000 kms on it. Going into Winnipeg today to insurance salvage auction to buy a 98 XJ donor vehicle (hopefully).
  8. The truck was used to pull a homebuilt trailer that had some funky homemade vacuum assisted braking system. The valve was connected (I say was because I took it out today) to the vacuum line going to the brake booster on the truck, and it controlled the trailer brakes.
  9. I'm selling the bumper because it's so big. I plan to build a nice small bumper (maybe bob the bed?).
  10. One of the first items on my repair list is the cooling system. The coolant reservoir was missing (he said it was cracked, so he took it off and now couldn't find it) and I heard the closed loop system maybe has a bit of problems, so I took some parts off my 92 parts XJ to change it to an open loop system. The top rad is the one I'm putting in. The only difference is the filler neck on the open loop one. (And the sensor on the middle left of the old one which I swapped into the new one) More pics to come. Didn't get it finished today.
  11. Here's some pics of my "new" truck. I bought it from my Brother in law's Father in law. He bought it about 20 years ago from his Father in law. It was used on the farm all of it's life, and in the last 12 years it's hardly been used at all. It's got really small tires on it now which will change soon to at least 235/75-15. Once I can afford it I plan to lift it and put on some 33"ers maybe even 35s Saggy headliner. Needs attention. This bumper is a custom made air bumper. It is for sale, any offers?
  12. this is my mj
  13. That's a good idea. I'll see if I can find a spot for the newer Jeep one but if that doesn't work out I'll look into a generic one. Thanks.
  14. I've got next week off of work so I hope to git r done then. Guess we'll see how it all works out.
  15. My donor isn't complete. The motor has already been pulled. I think I just need to change the rad, drivers side rad hose, the heater hoses and heater control valve.
  16. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I just bought an 88 MJ. I need to do some repairs on the cooling system (coolant tank is broken)and I've got a 92 XJ for parts. How hard is it to convert to the open loop (?) system. Thanks.
