kyleag89 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Continue from my post in the pub: I stripped most of the interior, removed the fender flares, drained old gas, and removed bad starter last night. I am working in my carport which I framed in and covered with tarps so I can stay warm for the winter.
kyleag89 Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 The interior was so gross it looked like the town dump!
SW86 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 ouch. hate to see that rust. thats a good lookin truck though
kyleag89 Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 Other than the small holes on the drivers side you can't see any rust from underneath. I'm hoping I can grind the rust down and still have enough metal there to use. If I have to I will buy new floor pans and take that route because there really isn't any more rust anywhere else.
webbjeepxj Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Nice!!! I'm in Bel Air, MD let me know if you need a hand on fix'n her up. I'd be interested to help with the floors as I may need to assess that issue too.
kyleag89 Posted December 11, 2010 Author Posted December 11, 2010 Power washed cleaned up ready for a motor Not sure if the motor and drive line from rusty black will go into Goldmember yet!
kyleag89 Posted December 11, 2010 Author Posted December 11, 2010 I'm thinking about running the 89 "rusty black" this winter with a plow and swapping everything over to "goldmember" in the spring and scrapping the rest.
MancheKid86 Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 I'm thinking about running the 89 "rusty black" this winter with a plow and swapping everything over to "goldmember" in the spring and scrapping the rest. don't scrap it!! it has lots of potential, sell it to some one who can restore it
kyleag89 Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 My black MJ once stripped of all good parts is not worth restoring. There is no rockers or cab corners and the bed is shot. This truck is from Boston,MA and has seen a good share of salt. :ack: I'm starting work on the 88 tomorrow again, get the motor ready to pull, grind down the floors and see whats left.
