Jerry
Just a thought that came about from my concern over the gas consumption of my new 4.0L. The tranny changes gears at certain speeds, that's what it feels like anyways. So it must work on voltage output from the speedo or some such electrickery? I think it would be useful to be able to manually alter when the box changes. I reckon I could increase the fuel mileage quite a bit if I had more control over it. The 4.0L has more than enough grunt to pull in higher gears at lower speeds! With my manual tranny on the blue boy I change up a lot earlier in the rev range than the auto does and it's the measly 2.8L V6! If I could rig up a system where I could switch between total auto or semi auto it would be quiet cool. I s'pose I'm angling for any info on how the auto system works really and if ya'll think it's a good/bad idea. Anyone have any 2c on the subject?
